Award winning Brazilian documentary maker Maria found her way into film-making as a producer and curator of film festivals in the poorer outskirts of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

She has been focussed in developing and directing documentaries dealing with social issues such as immigration, poverty, illiteracy and the welfare of children and women.

She worked as a journalist for four years, and has recently graduated with a MA in Screen Documentary from Goldsmiths College, University of London. ‘Just Like Mom’, her directorial debut, has been awarded as Best Factual Post-graduate Film by the Royal Television Society.

An extremely proficient and highly organised producer, Maria is instrumental in the production of events, ensuring that all the materials and technology are in place. During an event, using HD cameras and realtime editing, Maria documents everything that happens.
